Sharing with us what you know about Melaka is a meaningful
conversation for mutual benefit. We alone, we understand Melaka only partly.
Merdeka ! Merdeka ! Merdeka ! … now Malaysians shout
three times loudly on August 31 each year. In the first celebration of Merdeka,
do you know how many times Malayans shouted ?
I find it worthwhile in contributing some time on writing
this blog post for my country as August 31 is 19 days away.
Only an assumption, I have always imagined the sacrifices,
the sufferings and the joys for all Malaysians who were born before Merdeka.
They would be very proud of what they have done for their
country for Malaysia and if they are still alive, they would be happy when
Malaysians could celebrate Merdeka in harmony and peace.
Again, on assumption, I could feel the pride of Malaysian
who were born after Merdeka. Their pride would never fade, Never !
However, I couldn’t feel how Malaysians who were born decades
apart from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, feel. They might be confused between
Merdeka and Malaysia Day if they do not appreciate the sacrifices of the early
Merdeka fighters and forget about them though they have read history in school.
Some may take Merdeka as another public holiday.
This year, I am attending the Merdeka Parade in Melaka again
and for Malaysians who love to catch up about Merdeka, interesting reading
materials are appended herein.
In addition to writing for Merdeka, I
filmed Merdeka parade over the years.
Please watch past parades with this LINK
Sincerely, these reading materials and youtube
videos could be of help to future generation, and they may comment on Blog
Posts above or make YouTube comments on the LINK and say “Thank you” when they
need them as reference for their educative work.
Happy Birthday Malaysians !
