56th MERDEKA - Do you " berasa sayang " ?

At the stroke of midnight, a great roar told the world: We are now a nation !

The national anthem - Negara Ku  swelled loud and clear. Youths marched past Tengku who stood together with Sir Tan Cheng Lock, Mr. Sambathan, Inche Senu and Dato Razak. And they marched to the tone of " Rasa Sayang "

Do you young Malaysians " berasa sayang " like how their seniors did ?

6 minutes before the stroke of midnight, Sir Donald MacGillivray told Malaysians (then, the people of Malaya) over the radio, " For me, this is a very sad broadcast, for tomorrow, my wife and I will be leaving Malaysia, a nation we have grown to love "

Expression of love and pride of a British citizen thus touches the hearts of Malaysians ( or Malayans ) irrespective of races and religions.

Sir Donald MacGillivray love Malaysia and is proud for Malaysia's Merdeka.

Federal Hotel is built for the purpose of accomodating guests and dignitaries who were in Kuala Lumpur in 1957 to observe the 1st Merdeka parade.

Let us roar again together. This time louder.
