Merdeka Parade – A Benchmark For The Following Year

Melaka FM announced this morning that the Merdeka Parade will be held on Sunday 31^st August 2014. The contingents parading are assembling on that day at the Independence Memorial where Tunku Abdul Rahman shouted ‘Merdeka’ seven times.

An event to warm up the Merdeka spirit will be done in Jasin soon, followed by the ‘Kibar Jalur Gemilang’ in Alor Gajah. On the eve of Merdeka, the Ambang Merdeka event will be performed at Stadium Hang Tuah.

Chief Minister Datuk Wira Ir. Idris Haron when interviewed by Melaka FM said, ‘Perarakan Merdeka ini akan diamalkan sebagai suatu tarikan utama pelancongan bermula dari tahun ini.’

He added that the Merdeka event is a showcase not just for foreigners but also Orang Melaka to appreciate the sovereignty of the country. More importantly the unity, we trust. It is encouraged that more people of Melaka should witness this event to observe the progress made over a year by each contingent. The people of Melaka must get first hand knowledge of these contingents as they represent the units of the mechanism of the government administration.

By watching the quality of the contingents on the streets is sort of a benchmark for you next year to see how much changes your government has made and what direction your government is moving.
