What is stopping young children from becoming a versatile man, growing well as an adaptive person and soon to become a charismatic leader? As parents to children, with the fruits love from marriages and the blessing of God, parents want to groom children from a young age. Most of the time, many of them except a few, failed to achieve what they hope for their children. And the young ones may reciprocate by showing signs of dislikes to the distaste of their teachers.

Now look! … parent is not going to fixed everything and all things for their children and guarantee them a future. The future is in their hands. We are for sure for the very basic, to provide children the opportunity to education, in teaching, learning and reading and to expose them to any appropriate fields of interactive knowledge; in the context herein, the intermarriages of technology, history and heritage. I would be using the experiences gained from the impression series directed by Wang Chaoge which I watched twice within a week recently to identify the educative elements to take note when you are there.

Education and knowledge, plus the opportunity to expose oneself can forge the key for one to excel in a journey they like and for them to produce beautiful impression to others never like before.

Elements:

First – Love

Patriotic Datuk Wira Boo Kuan Loon, conceived the idea of Encore Melaka and wrote a letter to Wang Chaoge. Six years ago, Wang Chaoge visited Melaka after reading the letter, to examine the feasibility of Datuk Wira Boo’s vision  and the result of their hard work is now showing in the theatre.

The love for his hometown is now fruiting for Melaka since Encore Melaka is the only theatre produced with the Impression Series in Southeast Asia outside China. Encore Melaka is now poised to tap the attention of the Asean countries to Melaka in particular and Malaysia in general.

Second – Architecture

Tailored to the eventful historic China-Melaka relationship and matching the Straits of Melaka with Kota Syahbandar costal line, the interior theatre of Encore Melaka plus the exterior is closely knitted when the drawing instrument started working on paper.
Every beginning point and incremental point is given a deep thought whether it is ovals, oblong, continuous arcs, parallel or perpendicular lines and even radius and angles are studied to give live to this only immersive theatre in the Asean region. An architectural masterpiece, Encore Melaka is the latest landmark for Melaka today and San Pao Kong being the past.

Third – Lights

Lights talk. At this moment, I’m still unsure whether light-curtain or stage-curtain is used to uncover the mutli-level of different sizes stages. As these stages were zoom in and zoom out, the curtains either conceal or erase the stages smoothly like moving-clouds. I like to name it smart and well-behaved rays.

Fourth – Sound

Though the theory of sound travel slower than light apply but the sound effects in Encore Melaka is pretty amazing and it is not easy for me to describe here. You have got to hear it yourself !

Fifth – Costume

Just imagine what would happen when the Chinese robe and the baju Melayu intermarried more than 600 years ago and the auspicious encounter would lingers on indefinitely. You will see brilliant colorful robes with embroidery of the ancient Chinese arts mingling among beautifully baju kebaya dressed nyonya. Adoring the rest of what is a performing costume heritage rely on your perception to the immersive cultural arts encore daily within the theater in Kota Syahbandar, Melaka.

Sixth – Water

Three quarter of the earth is occupied by water, two molecular Hydrogen and one molecule of Oxygen. After the Big Bang, water together with the warmnest of the sun began to nourish the earth and gave rise to earlier civilizations. Newborns during the colonial periods were subjected to changes of the colonial masters' style of administration as pregnant mothers endured the difficult times in the water epic on the intelligent revolving stage. My eyes combed the tapering edges of the stage to check whether there is splashes onto the floor by performers footsteps. Yes, real water.

Rain or shine, these women labored in the fields for grains to feed their children. I visualized these women fieldwork on a plot paddy and while curious onlookers is distracted by how lights is reflected by raindrops, they toiled under rain.

Seventh – Gesture

A bow is a symbol of respect. Unfolding of the arm and hand is a symbol of passing customs and traditions to the next person in line. You can see these values when the marrying couple stage for you. Check out about more gestures on stage Encore Melaka. Closely guarded by Baba and Nyonya, their heritage does not go extinct and today, people queue for nyonya cuisine. What is Melaka without heritage ?
