RM65,907,780.00 WELFARE

5,133 child recipients in Melaka received a sum of Ringgit Malaysia RM13,371,140.00 in 2012 from the Jabatan Kebajkan Masyarakat. 9,063 senior citizens received a sum of Ringgit Malaysia RM23,904,600.00 in the same year.

The list of recipients goes on like this;

• 3,368 Disabled Workers' Allowances : RM8,758,380.00
• 19 Students Trainees Allowances : RM36,970.00
• 7,327 Recipients of General Allowances : RM14,566,610.00
• 11 Cared Child Assistance : RM25,000.00
• 1,366 Chronic Patients/Disabled Persons Assistance : RM3,259,150.00
• 1,695 Unemployed Disabled Persons : RM1,985,930.00

Adding the number of recipients would mean that a total of 27,892 persons have received a total monetary sum of RM65,907,780.00. These figures are tabulated by the Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat. The figures  show that the Janji Ditepati Policy is not neglected.

The Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat or in English Language, the Welfare Department, was established in the year 1946. The department ensure the welfare of the needy by considering five (5) criteria and they are;

1. Perlindungan 
2. Pemulihan
3. Pencegahan
4. Pembangunan
5. Pengintegrasian
