The Incarnation is the fundamental belief of the Christian religion. Incarnation comes from the Latin words, in carne, which means 'in the flesh'. The doctrine of the Incarnation affirms that in the person of Jesus of Nazareth God was made man that man might know God. Jesus Christ is the incarnation of the Second Person of the Holy Trinity, the Son of the Father.

The relation to God of the Christ was worked out by His followers, who gradually came to see that He was the Incarnation of God. Belief in the Resurrection contributed powerfully to this view. Resurrection or in Latin, resurgere, means 'to rise again' is the term used of the rising from the dead.

Easter is a major festival of the Christian church, commemorating the resurrection of Christ. Easter is Passover, a seven-day festival during which Christ was put to death. He sat with his Apostles at the Last Supper on Thursday. Good Friday honours Christ's crucifixion on Golgotha while Palm Sunday commemorates Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem, when the people spread palms in His path.

Jesus appeared again to Mary Magdalene; to two disciples who were walking to the Emmaus; to Thomas and his companions; to the disciples gathered together in Jerusalem; to 7 disciples by the Sea of Tiberias; to 11 disciples on a mountainside in Galilee and finally appeared to the Apostles and "while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of their sight."
