Toh Puan Rahah, Tun Abdul Razak's wife

Tun Abdul Razak is one of a few leaders in the Rombongan Merdeka to make Malaysia an independence nation. Negaraku Berdaulat, Tanah Tumpahnya Darahku. Selamat Menyambut Hari Merdeka.

Sometime last year, someone I am not able to recall has told me that Tun Abdul Razak's wife was a student in the Convent school on Parameswara Road, Melaka. Find it is only this week, that I read some records that shows Toh Puan Rahah was at the Parents-Teachers Day of the Convent school in 1946.

Toh Puan Rahah took part in the school choir on PIBG Day when she was 13.

Toh Puan was active with activities of the girls guides and she had visited the Selangor Girl Guides in Briekfields on the 3rd of October, 1964. She inspected the guard-of-honour and the next day Toh Puan officiated the construction of the Girl Guides Building with a building cost of RM$168,000.00.

On the 25th July, 1965, she attended the retirement reception of the Commissioner of the Girl Guides of Malaysia, Mrs. Maha Lakshimi Navaratnam.

Three years later  in 1968, Toh Puan Rahah officiated the opening of the Malaysian Girl Guides Association Conference at the Technical College in Cheras, Selangor Darul Ehsan.

She has contributed much to the Girl Guides and attempted to better equipped the Guides with her visit to Girls Scouts Shop in New York during October 1971. She met John Rivoire and Orville L. Freeman and impart theirs knowledge to Guides members back home.

On 25th July 1973, Toh Puan has presented the letter of appointment to the then new Commissioner of the Malaysian Girl Guides, Puan Hendon binti Haji Din.

Tuanku Yahya Petra Ibni-Al-Marhum Sultan Ibrahim Yang Di Pertuan Agong Ke 6 has conferred the title 'Tun' upon Toh Puan Rahah on 21st October, 1976 while Datuk Najib Razak on behalf of his father, Allahyarham Tun Abdul Razak received the title, 'Darjah Utama Sri Mahkota Negara'.

China extended high regards to Tun Abdul Razak and Tun Rahah, and it is noted that high ranking Chinese officials who came to Malaysia make request to meet Tun Rahah.
