Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak expressed his happiness with the strong unity and harmony shown by the people and leaders of the various races during the Chinese New Year. While Datuk Seri Najib Razak said, " Let's hope that the Year of the Water Dragon will see the country's economy strengthening further and the people prospering ", Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor also extended her greetings live to the Chinese community on Radio Television Malaysia (RTM).

Joining hands to toss the traditional Chinese custom of "Yee Sang", were Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, Datuk G. Palanivel and Datuk Seri M. Kayveas.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and wife Puan Sri Norainee Abdul Rahman as well as the former prime ministers Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi were present at the Wisma MCA.

In Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the Barisan Nasional would continue with the people-first programmes and help those in the low and medium income group. His people-oriented programmes have actually started long ago with the recent two major ones just before the New Year. The Ringgit Malaysia Two Hundred BAUCER BUKU 1MALAYSIA for education and the Ringgit Malaysia Five Hundred BANTUAN RAKYAT 1MALAYSIA OR BR1M for the livelihood of all Malaysians was given to the people nationwide) These two acts are surely kind act.
