What is Temasya ? Temasya is a Bahasa Melayu word which means an event which is concentrated with the cultural lifestyle of a community.

What is Budaya ? Budaya is another Bahasa Melayu word which means lifestyle.

Being a first generation Malaysian, my father hailed from Fujian, China while my mother, a second generation Malaysian born on the foothill of Bukit Cina mixes well with all other communities in Melaka. Today, out of their intermarriage, I keep in touch with my cousins in Chicago, Toronto, Paris, Hanoi, Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Sydney and Fujian.

My parent has bridged my mapping on how China and Melaka became friend and I am still learning to know how this big country is preserving the good relationship with a small State of Malaysia, MELAKA.

An old buddy, a Chetty, a third generation Malaysian of the Seth families provoked my curiousness how the forefathers have made homes from Melaka river bank to the northern Chetty village. In addition to these two families origin and descendant, there were plenty of intermarriages during the sultanate era and as many as eighty-four languages was spoken once upon a time.

At this moment as I type, the Gujaratis is beginning to celebrate their inherited festival at Shri Ambaji Temple in Ujong Pasir, Melaka. I am going to this temple later today to film the event to share with you on the YouTube Channel : MELAKA.

You can freely subscribe MELAKA, and take it as a source of information to plan your travel and tour costs and time here. The hotel playlist can provide you a general idea of the hotel you choose to stay. The food and beverage playlist show you the unique food served in Melaka. A day trip would suffice before the year 1990 when the nickname, ‘A Sleepy Hollow’ was still sticking to Melaka. Today, a minimum of two nights is recommended, and for satisfaction, 4 nights 5 days would be nice.

To avoid disappointment, you’ve got to book your stay early. These are the hotels located ideally where you can have a walking-tour instead of depending on car or coaches,

Born and bred in Melaka, I am still learning about Melaka and to wonder why she has attracted so much attention from as far as Europe in the west and China in the east. It is much easier now to access to their once closely guarded cultures and traditions than last time because they are sharing to everyone their lifestyles and answering questions from inquisitive visitors. They feel happy when you ask questions and happier when you join them in their activities over the three days cultural gala. You can witness their cultures and traditions during the Temasya Budaya Melaka, never in existence in other parts of the world. The participants are playing their roles out of love and we would have the joy to feel their friendliness.

Money-worth, time worth, the Temasya is going to immerse you to Melaka long now and then after you leave.

Have a nice vacation and good luck – wishes from me, Daniel Ong, the Blogger for Melaka.
