Macap Baru In History
Macap was among nine areas producing about 8000 tons of tapioca supplying mainly to the British market in the 1800s. Basically, Macap activities was closely linked to agricultural work. And that is what I like and any visitor to Macap will like.
Macap is so special last time and today and tomorrow; her greenery is fabulous and gorgeous. Macap is a very very good living example to stage the Melaka Bandar Teknologi Hijau or Melaka Green City.
English Language has been an International Language and for the sake of reading pleasure by foreign net-searchers who are looking for special places to visit during their holidays and vacations in South East Asia, I write this blog post in english language. I pray to God, in time to come more and more foreign tourists would visit Macap Baru.
I believed social media players from Macap, Melaka, Malaysia have been writing about Macap in Mandarin in Hua Yu much already.
From my long time observations on the foreign travellers, they not only have seen super duper mega shopping esplanades, world class standards in, for example, Aerospace to Education to Manufacturing .... till anything starting with the alphabet Z, they might have enjoy foods served by the most influential chefs, trailblazers of creative and avant-garde cuisine, yet they wanted something simple old, original and unchanging that can be found in Macap.
By 1898, the Malacca Rubber and Tapioca Company was set up by Tan Chay Yan. However, my first knowing of Macap was closely linked with the rubber businesses. I could recall that there was a young man who would fetch a young Hakka girl to Macap everyday in the long past. Both this man and the clerical girl would deliver the raw rubber to Lee Rubber Pte. Ltd. Vividly, I still remember the shop name as Sungai Jaya. What I like about the shops of the olden days was the door. Those doors were made up by slotting pieces of thick plank of woods written with numbers to make sure which one goes into the railing first.
Then, there was a detachment of attention on Macap while I was away in Kuala Lumpur to continue my tertiary education. It was only when I joined a courier services company thereafter that I returned to give attention to Macap where I used to make deliveries of documents and parcels to the Macap folks.
I was separated from Macap for a second time over a few years when I was posted to Selangor and later to Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan. Due to work commitment; almost forgotten about Macap but become aware of its existence again after I wrote a letter to Fong Chan Onn about two decades ago. Poh Ah Tiam had also promoted Macap Baru significantly.
During my first encounter of Macap on the rubber business in the late seventies and the second encounter during the mid-eighties, Macap to me was a very far place to go. To get to a telephone was very difficult then. Today, Macap is a stone-throw away with improved road system. Today, I have captured three 360 photo of MacapWalk just right in front of the Dumpling Stall as Google Local Guide. See your MacapWalk from all angles by moving your smartphone left-to-right, down-to-up of use your finger and swipe to the left, right, up or bottom as you like to see MacapWalk in 360.
The Dumpling Seller asked me to try his dumplings and I agreed to buy dumplings after working on getting photographs and video of this promising place. I think I saw Datuk Lai Meng Chong walking from the Petai Pau stall towards the Arch.
Arch is a very important structure in Ancient China, and for the same reason, you will see this arch that welcome you to MacapWalk.

More of Macap In History. Between the highest 1954 population of some 13,000 people in Jinjang, Selangor and a low of about 40 person in Labu Besar, Kedah; Macap Baru had an estimated 1,600 people while Macap Umboo had nearly 1,000 folks.
Watch this video.
The video is recorded today with a desire to share with you, the beauty of Macap Baru. I am very happy that I have been to Macap Baru today as I have postponed the trip for several weeks. My idea of visiting Macap Baru has been months and my interest to see Macap Baru again is renewed when members of my family told me that there is a MacapWalk.

I like Sambal Petai. You can get Petai Pau here. A lady will serve you with her son, I guess. I like her son smiling disposition.

Below I see two elderly men, enjoying a glass of warm Chinese Tea and a cup of locally brewed coffee. The man facing me is enjoying the daylight before sunset over the fragrant coffee pampered by the several karaoke-kaki.
