The birds
would crowd around you giving you an exhilarating experience.
Usually you
would watch birds flying above you but when you are in the Melaka Bird Park,
you would watch the birds flying below you.
Birds
eating seeds and nuts from your hands, some sitting on your shoulders would
surely give joy to your kids.
Birds of South
America, Asia, Australia and Africa can be seen in this park. Read on to know some of the birds I take note.
African Grey Parrot
These medium-size parrots are called the 'Einstein' of the parrot world due to its incredible talking ability and intelligence level comparable to a five year old. Their diet is fruits, seeds and nuts. Their birthplace is Africa. Their lifespan is between 40 to 60 years in captivation and 23 years in the wild. In term of conservation, they are classified as Vulnerable IUCN.
Violet-Necked Lory
In the wild, they are usually found in pairs or small group of up to 10 birds. They flock and travel back and forth between different islands in respond to food availability. Their diet is fruits, seeds and nuts. They birthplace is Indonesia. Their lifespan is between 25 to 35 years in captivation and 15 years in the wild. In term of consevation, they are classified as Least Concern IUCN.
The third example, I am sharing with you is the;
Cockatiel
These birds are the smallest among the Cockatoo family and all hatching resemble the females. After 6 to 9 months, the males orange cheek patch will become more distinct and brighter than the females. Their diet is fruits, seeds and nuts. Their birthplace is Australia and their lifespan is between 10 to 45 years in captivation and about 14 years in the wild. In term of conservation, they are classified as Least Concern IUCN.
Now, I would like to ask you, why is it fun to watch birds ?
Would you agree if the answer is good eyes and good ears. If you agree, you would now agree that grandparent, parent and kids would enjoy watching birds.
To glimpse wild birds, you have to move very slowly or if can stay still which I never knew earlier before I visited the Melaka Bird Park today. I was there between 4 pm to 6 pm just now and my experience was more than fun with Rosiskandar, Muhammad Anaz and their friend feeding the birds as I take photographs and video clips. I sincerely like to record my appreciation to them, " Thank You "
Now, I even know that a slight air movement created by me could be felt by the birds. Do you know that birds' ability to sing is in most cases inherited and their courtships have different ceremonies.
Commonly eaten, shaped like half a saucer hardened from the sticky saliva of the Swiflet of Borneo uses it as their nests. Eaters of bird nests could get closer to birds abilities in this park. Another common saying everyone know, "The early bird catches the worm" Don't you think you have to visit this park at least once.
In schools, teachers will tell their students that birds have done a great job to green the earth by helping to spread seeds of plants ever since the Earth was formed. Today, people are very interested towards Going Green.
For knowledge sake, birds can fly very fast and to name an example, the golden eagles can touch a speed of about 120 miles per hour.
You will learn more than what you read and watch here from the park yourself. It is all up to you !
