Bukit Cina 马六甲三保井丙申年2016年景布置盛会
If anyone is to connect China with Malaysia, his
thought would go back in time when the Sultan Mansur Syah built a palace for
his princess, Hang Li Poh.
A little hill called Bukit Cina, the community
expanded through Lorong Bukit Cina where traditional welcoming of the Chinese
New Year is celebrate tonight.
About 500 Chinese youths who accompanied the royal
bride, Princess Hang Liu, built their homes on the hill. Many younger
Malaysians do not know that Bukit Cina include Bukit Tempurong, Bukit Gedong
and Bukit Tinggi.
Bukit Tempurong is where you can enjoy the unique
night market from about 5 p.m. on Sunday.
The Chinese living around this area, covering Lorong
Bukit Cina, Egerton Road, Campon Bukit China, Banda Kaba represent the “San Pao
Jing” community.
This community still preserve the traditions inherited
from their forefathers, a value, I have observed for 50 years at least.
The lighting of the Chinese Lanterns is graced by
several Chinese leaders and one of the prominent one is, Datuk Wira Gan Boon
Leong, the founder of Jonker Walk.
