Who made Melaka known
People who are always in look for money had
made +MELAKA known to the world a long time ago. Who are they ? They are
businessmen who were willing to take risks in finding buyers and sellers by sailing
across the seas to explore new places.
The rich and multi-racial activities has
fascinated the traders, conquerors and adventurers to the lands of Asia several
hundred years ago. Melaka is a very good example. Man travel far in search of
food, money and valuables, in general, from the beginning though in those days,
they did not know how to enjoy comfort, hospitality and luxury.
When the Turks forbid travel through their
lands during the fourteen hundreds, the land route to the East was closed and
businessmen has to find sea route as alternative to continue their economic
activities. The Portuguese were the ones who did the most exploration then, and
Melaka has now to value Portugal for opening the African sea route which
marks the beginning of the present remnants of Melaka. Soon, a Venice man,
Marco Polo came into the traveling arena, … and many others followed such trips
… including the Chinese voyager, Admiral Zheng He from the east.
These men somehow likes to travel and have
family members who also likes to travel before them. Like father like son,
Marco’s interest to explore new places was a step after his father, Nicolo, who
has stayed with Kublai Khan in China. They took four years to reach China and
it was about 703 years ago. Don’t be surprised if I tell your that Marco had seen
people using hollow bamboo to pipeline natural gas for cooking long before your
parent or grandparent learnt to use cylinder gas to replace charcoal and woods.
Like Admiral Zheng He who escorted Princess
Hang Li Poh to Melaka, Marco Polo had escorted another Chinese princess to
marry the ruler of Persia. You may have heard of the saying, “Melaka – Venice
Of The East”
The first person to make Melaka known to
the world is none other than Parameswara. Next, Alfonso de Alburqueque, the
Dutch, the British and then Admiral Zheng He. Once 84 languages was spoken in
+Melaka . Attention has was given to Melaka by those men.
They had sailed through the Straits Of Melaka, at a time when the Empire Of Melaka was significant to the region.
