Unpolished Brown Rice 大自然糙米 Beras Perang
A good source of Vitamin B and essential minerals, unpolished brown rice is cholesterol free, has lower glycaemic index, low sodium and gluten free. Danielle lifted a 5kg pack of ecoBrown's from the shelf at AEON Bandaraya into the trolley handled by her mum.
From the pack, I read this;
ecoBrown's ORIGINAL Brown Rice is produced from fully ripened and freshly harvested paddy grown in the Muda Irrigation Scheme - the Rice Bowl of Malaysia. The fertile soils that are rich in natural nutrients, in combination with the favorable weather and farmers' traditional rice growing knowledge, produces the best rice in the country.
Today's dinner, is my second try on a bowl of brown rice chewy nicer than my first bowl yesterday. I am beginning to like the taste of brown rice and equally nice is the fresh cod fish we got from AEON Bandaraya yesterday, the eve of Malaysia Day.
Now, I share with you what I learned from a pack of ecoBrown's original, "What is in a grain of brown rice?"
Rice Bran
Contains high amount of soluble dietary fibre, vitamin B complex, polyunsaturated lipids and minerals such as iron, calcium, magnesium, chromium that makes brown rice superior in nutrition to polished white rice. It also has phytonutrients such as Inositol, Oryzanol that regulate the cholesterol level in the body.
Endorsperm
Provides energy from its high carbohydrate contents (>75%) for daily requirement.
Germ (Embryo)
Contains similar vitamins, lipids, minerals and phytonutrients as in the rice bran. In addition, it has Zinc that is important for the reproductive system and vitamin E (Tocopherol) that can prevent stroke and heart diseases.

Going with steamed cod fish, simmered Chinese garlic-stir cabbage, and chicken rendang, the dinner today is a diet-balanced one. And I almost forgot that the happiest moment is to see Danielle's younger sister and brother enjoying much of the Cod.
The steamed Cod is garnished with Sauce Oyster plus Soya blended with Bentong ginger, onion and garlic.
