Was this your classroom ?
Hi, you guys,
Batch of 1977, Malacca High School.
Over the
five years from 1973 to 1977, did you ever step into this class ?
According
to modern theory, a classroom should be designed to promote easy learning.
Well, for reminiscences purpose only,
this classroom is on the block opposite to the Prefect’s lodge where the Court
Of Assembly seated.
This classroom
stay, but the classes took turn to occupy this classroom. So again, did you
ever step into this classroom if your class had never occupied there.
This
classroom has three solid wood doors made without using nails and they served
the entry and exit of students and teachers for 189 years right up till today.
Even before Melaka has coined the idea of Melaka Bandaraya Teknologi Hijau, the
color green has been a heritage as the boys pinned the metallic badge above
their pockets.
Students
must be equally able to see and hear instruction from the teacher like this one
design in the image below. When teacher stand on the point at equal radius to
circumference of every student, each student get equal attention like the
other. And teacher could monitor each student with equal attention. You see
there are about five groups with four chairs each group.

Have you
forgotten how you as past students were seated ? The class has more than forty
students then. Have you ever lamented. You do, what about the pioneers back in
1826. One old traits was the games of yesteryears are no more popular. Some of
you had played feather-shutter. Some of you had played the minyak-kapak trick. Some of you had dropped erasers. Some of you
had dropped sharpener. Some like to build tents. Some stood on chair. Many
plucked mimosa grass. Some pushed concrete-roller. And …. Only one thing, all did
together and together they sang the national anthem at the same time with our
Head Boy.
Despite the
bad and the ugly; the joy of fun and good, coming together is a beginning,
getting together is a process and being together is a success.
