Sundries shops owners were very close to their customers. Today the number of sundries shop in Melaka is getting lesser and lesser.

Most of the owners were providing great services to their customers. Customers would give their orders in the sundries shops. And the sundries owners would pack the groceries according to their customers desired quantities.

Calculation of the total cost of purchases was made using the abacus. The sundries owners provided credit to their customers and a handy book, the local used to call 555, was used to record the purchases and payments.

Sundries shop assistant would then delivered the groceries to their customers' homes by a tricycle.
