There are a lot of Hakka tribes in Nanzhuang, so consequently, delicious local food is everywhere! Don't let the strange name "pigeon dumplings" stop you from sampling them.

It's actually what people used to call steamed rice buns stuffed with vegetables. They got their name because they look a lot like a pigpen.

The bun has a thin bread-like casing and a lot of stuffing, and in recent years, a couple of innovative flavors have emerged, such as flowers and fruit. As for what's on the menus, just take a look! Meigan cai stewed port, pig's large intestines with shredded ginger, Hakka stir-fry, braised sticky pork, and sliced pork soup with pickled mustard greens are all classic Hakka cuisine.
