The role of Tun Kudu was clear through this incident when the Sultan informed her of Tun Ali’s wish to marry her, even though at that time she was already the queen. Tun Ali stood firm by his wish to marry Tun Kudu, even though the Sultan offered him to marry the daughter of other noblemen such as Tun Bulan, Tun Ratna Sendari and Tun Kanaka. Seeing Tun Ali’s obstinacy, the Sultan was willing to divorce Tun Kudu, for the sake of Melaka’s stability.
