Joseph Federick Morten Village, Malacca.

Joseph Federick Morten Village, Malacca is commonly called Morten Village or Kampung Morten.

Kampung Morten was a dense mangrove land at the beginning. Joseph Federick Morten helped in the resettlement of the people from Kampung Jawa to Kampung Morten in 1920.

I love Kampung Morten, because it is a place where people today still live by the traditional ways. Morten Village is a very old village that is still preserving the old lifestyles, the old architectures, the old household utensils, the old furnitures and fittings, and so forth. Each curve, each angle, each corner, each color, each utensil, each step, each arrangement, each textile material, each floor mat, ... is beautifully made.

The oldness ambience of this Morten Village is not only contained inside their houses but also outside their house at the front yards.

Villages like Morten Village which is located in the heart of Heritage Malacca is a rare sights in the 21st century.
Just a minute drive away from Kampung Morten, you can enjoy lunch at Pizza Hut, KFC, and McDonald's along Hang Tuah Mall. You can also dine and stay at the Avillion Legacy Melaka and walk to admire the nearby Morten Village in daylight and at night. http://www.avillionlegacymelaka.com/
