Sugar : The Bitter Truth




Najib Razak said that moderate intake of sugar is acceptable but if taken excessively, it may be harmful. To-date, about 2.6 millions Malaysians are suffering from diabetes. To remember the promise of People First, Performance Now, reduction of subsidy on sugar by RM0.20 per kilogramme will take effect from today, 29 October 2013. The action is to prevent people from suffering on the effects of excessive sugar intake. A caring Prime Minister advised the business community not to burden the rakyat by increasing the prices of food and beverage with sugar content. Instead, the caring business community could reduce the sugar content in food and beverage.

The Minister of Health, Datuk Seri Dr. Subramaniam s/o K.V. Sathasivam சுப்ரமணிய has re-affirmed that the excessive intake of sugar is bad for health and his message was broadcasted over the radio this morning.
