Mist in Greece, … a gift of Nature

Is mist appearing before your eyes regularly ?  Is the small suspended water droplets in the air making you to smiles this year ? If your answer is Yes to both, congratulations, you’re close to nature. Mist … is a gift of Nature. Mist is common in cold air above warmer water as you compare it to steam above boiling water.

When your answer is No to both, and when you still see ‘mist’ once in awhile in brownish color, what you’re seeing is probably a haze. Haze occurred when the pollutants is high while mist is bluish in color and fresh. Haze is unhealthy and mist is healthy. Beautiful mist still appear in the Swifts Creek, Australia and Kalambaka, Greece.

3 days ago, a man from Rumbia, Melaka told me about how he enjoyed the mist till as late as 10 in each morning some 60 years back. Today, my teacher, mailed me a fantastic picture of the mist in Kalambaka, Greece he said as terrific. Personally, I have seen mist on many occasions but they are getting rare. Do you think global warming has to do with it ?

When successive layers of air have different temperatures and thus different densities, reflection and refraction of light produced optical illusion. I have seen mirages along the old countryside roads connecting Simpang Ampat, Senawang and Sungai Besi and they are beautiful. Shall we call mirage as the partner of the mist ? While mist likes hilly areas, perfect mirages are seen in the desserts and at sea. Dessert mirages often look likes lakes and for the same reason, you thought water is flooding the road ahead of you.

Beside Australia and Greece, China too preserved many scenic mist. The mist there is breathtaking.
