Wife of the World War II President, Franklin Delano
Roosevelt, Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, is one of the most enterprising of first
ladies. She has traveled much that she is well-known and is acquainted with her
fellow-citizens.
Mrs. Roosevelt served the United States as a representative
at the United Nations General Assembly from the year 1946 to 1953. Mrs.
Roosevelt played an important role in the successful drafting of the
Declaration of Human Rights in 1946.
She was the first president’s wife who actively supported
her husband’s political career. A writer, Mrs. Roosevelt campaigned for him and
secured public support for his policies. Many admire her.
President Kennedy, secured her to serve as a UN delegate in
1961.
