In Eire, the motto is to have ownership in the hands of many rather than among a few.  As well as to the right to private ownership, there is freedom of speech, and of conscience, and the right of assembly. The Irish have poetry in their hearts and poetry on their lips. Poets and scholars were honored next to the kings.

Dublin will be the European Capital of Science in 2012 with the Trinity College as an old university, established by the Royal Charter in 1592 under Elizabeth I. The National University of Ireland in Dublin is the largest university in Ireland with over tens of thousands of students.
