Silica Gel
Silica gel is a highly pure, porous and amorphous silicon
dioxide. A tasteless, odorless, non-toxic and non-corrosive material, it is the
highest capacity absorber available today. Appears and feel dry even when
saturated with water, it is synthetically manufactured from the chemical
reaction between sulfuric acid and sodium silicate.
This gel meets the requirement of the Japan’s Food
Sanitation law and the United States’ FDA, the internal structure of silica gel
is composed of a vast network of interconnected microscopic pores. These pores
attract and hold water including alcohols, hydrocarbons and other chemicals by
absorption and capillary condensation.
