Bell, the keeper of Time

Bell, the word, comes from an Anglo-Sazon word. It means to make a bellow. Or it means to make a noise. In ancient Melaka, the town was almost walled. Bells in the the tower were used.

Until today, we can hear the ‘gong’ of the bell by the clock tower within the Dutch Square. If I my mind is still during the day light, I could hear the ‘gong’ from my resident which is about 3 kilometres away. The ‘gong’ is stronger by night or before dawn.

We also can find bells in churches. And before the Christian era, China already has been using bells. A 53 tons is in Beijing, a 87 tons bell in Myanmar and a 110 tons bell in Russia. There is also a metal bell in Cheng Hoon Teng Temple in the Harmony Street in Melaka.

Bell, is therefore, the keeper of Time.
