Star-studded Game
The man who invented basketball is Mr. James A. Naismith.
Basketball has been played for only 121 years. Throwing ball into a basket at
both ends indoor during winter, the game is named after the basket.
The basket is fitted at 10 feet above the floor with a metal
ring 18 inches in diameter. The ring has a 18 inches long net suspended and the
transparent fibre-glass backboard is used. On the center of the division line,
a restraining circle of 6 feet enclosed the 2 feet center circle. The free
throw line is 15 feet from the transparent fibre-glass backboard.
Three basketball players gave some quite interesting points
of the basketball game over lunch today. Chong said, “The black basketball
player could hold still in air defying gravity for a few splits of a second
before he shoot the ball into the basket.” Kent added, “The black do that to
make himself stable first to exact his aim before shooting the ball into the
basket.” Johnson provided the reason by
saying, “The black has higher rate of metabolism to enable him to
‘hold-still-in-mid-air’ during his jump.”
Another point is the securing of the ball before letting it
into the basket. Player whose hand is long could hold the ball close to his
chest with strong arm grip to prevent it from sneaking away. This contrast the
shorter hand who has no choice but to shoot the ball earlier before getting
closer to the metal ring.
Then we were talking on the lay-up shot using either hand
made after dribbling or receiving a pass close to the basket. Leaping toward
the loop with one arm fully extended, the ball is softly put against the
backboard which rebound it into the basket.
