2nd Voyage to Xiyang

China’s second voyage to Xiyang.

Taking advantage of the northeast monsoon, the armada sailed again with Wang Jinghong, two other official and an interpreter. The armada berthed at Thailand after a short call at Vietnam. Imperial China had rescued an envoy in mid sea and sent him back to Thailand when the Siamese ships were destroyed by weather. This is historical proof tell us that Thailand had had pretty good relationship with China.

A silk parasol over his head, followed Zheng He who sat on a hand-carried sedan chair all the way to the Siam palace. Famous Zheng He temples in Thailand include the Kullaya Temple and the Wat Phanan Choeng.

Siam started to make friends with Vietnam, Sumatra and Melaka after Zheng He’s visit. Although the Zheng He statue in erected in Melaka in recent years, a sculpture of Zheng He has been reclining at the Sanbao temple in Thailand for a long time.

Soon after the Siam visit, Cambodia enjoy peace like the other when Vietnam ceased to intrude the people of Cambodia.

Having established peace in the region, the 2nd voyage arrived in India for a second time. The apparent use of Chinese fishing nets along the sea-coast of India dictate that Zheng He’s voyage delivered knowledge and skills to the people of the lands the Chinese sailors visited.

Barter trade was promoted by Zheng He when the Chinese unloaded porcelain, silk, embroidery, satin, from China and loaded precious stones, pepper, spices and pearls of India onto the vessels of the Xiyang armada.
The fleet left for Sri Lanka.
