Flotilla Submarine (FS) SMD Quessant (Agosta 70 Class)
It is an electric-diesel warship (SSK) made in France.
It
has been classified as non-nuclear submarine.
This submarine was used by the Spanish Navy and Pakistan
Navy instead of the Royal Malaysian Navy.
SMD Quessant uses an air-independent propulsion as the
supported system.
As for the beginning, SMD Quessant was constructed by
Arsenal de Cherbourg firm with 4 units of Agosta 70 which are FS Agosta, FS
Beveziers, FS La Praya and FS Quessant. All the submarines’ credential
including the training submarine, FS Quessant (S623) purchased by the Royal
Malaysian Navy had been phase out starting from the year 1977 to 2001.
The
newest model, Agosta 90B was built by Pakistan Navy.
