Old Ways Is Not Fading in Heeren Street, a street next to Jonker Walk

http://cwfoodtravel.blogspot.com

Today we have bigger houses and smaller families within the e-cities but the old ways is not fading in the heritage zones of old cities all over.

Within the old streets, though the streets presentations or decorations have been fortified and shall continue to escalate further in its make-ups enhancements to please the viewers, the rigid-narrow but long houses are ageing and they are gaining values each single day because of its originality.

Their ageing parts and pieces are not being replaced then and now and most likely not getting a replacement ever in centuries to come. Their ageing parts and pieces are just being maintained and maintenances accrued every costs, efforts and time to make preservation and restoration truly works. A very good example of these heritage parts and pieces that are still joining together today are revealing in the old ho-lan-kuai (a Fujian dialect of China 中国) or the Millionaires Row. The Heeren Street.

At both ends of the street
Sign-plates bear the name
Of an illustrious son.

His only son, too, every Baba knows,
Deserves a token somewhere,
And in their memory.

In this very street
In the lavish study
Of the most famous house

Were made and sealed
A people's fortunes,
And their fate.

In mega-cities, there are more and more conveniences creeping up each day and many are using them but less time is reserved to be enticed by the oldness and the slowness of the heritage minority surrounding us till this moment.

Knowledge is appearing at the speed of light and more knowledges reaches us in many splits of a second, every seconds, in the form of;
  • a digital screen in our palms.
  • a wide LED screen in our streets.
  • a plasma screen at our homes.
  • a silver screen in our theatres.
  • a page in our newspapers.
  • a plaque in our vicinity of our dwelling places.
  • a show in our public stages.
  • a tweet in our twitters.
  • a post in our facebooks.
Information is constantly flowing and channelled to us but less judgement is in the making and the old ways are on the verge of extinction. If 'A Picture Tell A Thousand Words' still haunt us, then we've got to be at heritage places to photographed ourselves with the real.

We are using 'Lol' (laugh out loudly) very often digitally yet we find we are actually laughing too little. Men have conquered outer space but not inner self. We've got to make it a point to laugh heartily with the preciousness of the past and as well as the fun of the present in a real atmosphere. Travel to these places and indulge in the slowness and oldness of life. Practically such vacations would rejuvenate the inner space after a prolong period of driving too fast along free-ways. Or getting angry quickly in the rat-race. Pamper self in the once 'sleepy hollow' of the ruins of the Melaka Empire while feasting and staying in antiques hotels, riverbank hotels or seafront hotels that guards the ancient sea port.
