Chestnuts were plentiful in ancient Pontus on the Black Sea, grown close together and form underwood attaining a few feet in height.
Chestnuts is a sort after seed delicacies during the Chinese New Year as roasted chestnuts and as steamed chestnuts during the Dumpling Festival.
Chestnuts is used to compliment mushrooms, spiced with Chinese herbs to stuff the cavity of duck before aluminium foil wrapping for the oven. The dish takes the table menus of wedding dinner and guests would savour the great taste with chopsticks.
Chestnuts is also sold not only in stalls and shopping centres but also at certain villages.
