Sheep and Goats

Sheep at Rembau
Sheep and goats belong to the order of the even-toed animals with divided hoofs, the same order to which cattle belong. They chew the cud, eat grass and leaves.

Sheep and goats have been among the most useful animals to man for as many as thousands of years. Its leather is for shoes, and gloves making, for example, while its wool is for clothing. Goat's milk is a common drink for some people.

Some of the finest fibres to spin into thread for clothing come from the cashmere and the angora. Sheeps are found in countries like Australia, Russia, the United States, Argentina and South Africa.

The French breed is called Rambouillet ram, the English the Lincoln ewe and while Great Britain has the most varieties, Spain and France have some famous breeds.

Goats are close relatives of sheep.
