Many stories have been told about American frontiersman David Crockett.
David Crockett was born on August 17, 1786. At that time, Tennessee was unsettled and wild frontier land, David Crockett spent most of his youth on hunting. When David Crockett returned home after wandering about the frontier for some time, he entered school.
He became restless and left school after a few days, and his adventurous spirit drew him farther west. He married Polly Findlay when he was eighteen and his restless nature got him to move his family several times. He gained knowledge of frontier life and became an expert marksman.
David Crockett served in the Tennessee militia under Andrew Jackson in the war against the Creek Indians. After that period in between 1813 and 1814, David became Jackson's scout in the Florida campaign and was promoted to colonel.
After being appointed as the Justice of Peace, David was elected as Tennessee state legislature in 1821.
1826 made him ran for Congress, where he served for six years and his campaign speeches were enjoyed by everyone. He was able to mingle politics with jokes and anecdotes when he spoke at barbecues, picnics and other informal get-togethers.
His favourite sayings is "Be sure you are right, then go ahead."
