Khatmandu | Shrines

There are some 3,000 shrines in the Khatmandu Valley and thousands of priests of both Hindu and Buddhist faiths.

The Buddhist temples here, unlike those elsewhere, do not house relics of Buddha.

Instead they are apt to have five shrines to the Dhanibuddhas, and the five saints below Buddha.

Most of the temples have dome-shaped roofs with lofty spires.
