Riverside Road, Melaka - Who know better than her ?



Jalan Laksamana is another name for the same road which run parallel to the Melaka River and the road stretches from the Chan Koon Cheng Bridge to the Tan Kim Seng Bridge. By the way, please note that the Tan Kim Seng Bridge stay till today though it was bombed by the Japanese Army once.

More than half a century ago, a high spring tide of the Straits of Melaka could be strong enough in ponding back the river water as much as 16 kilometers inland.

Her stories of the early days at Riverside Road, Melaka is the first organized by Perbadanan Muzium Melaka with collaboration of the Friends of Melaka Museum at 10 this morning in the Ethnography & History Museum. Her father's name, ABBAS was a household name for every school going children families in Melaka together with the other name, Lim's Brothers because they were the only ones who sold books in Melaka.

In the above image, Chairman of the Friends of Melaka Museums, Haji Shaukani Abbas stood with YB Datuk Haji Khamis bin Haji Abas, while the second daughter of Abbas, Hajjah Nazli Abbas [Kak N 1977 - 1982] in red headscarf is standing next to her sister, Nora.

Kak N is the writer and the presenter for Putera Puteri in a 26-series aired by Radio Television Malaysia in black and white back in 1977. Kak N also appeared for Cumi Ciki in colour aired by the same television channel from 1979 to 1980.
