Martin answer your question on Portuguese Settlement






A small group of girls from Tunku Abdul Rahman College University were so engrossed with the iconic structures of the settlement as if they wanted some great shots of the surrounding area.

Just beside them is a convent school where I had once joined a campfire and met my first girlfriend.

Not long later, Martin Theseira alighted from his car and was preparing the registration form for participants of the afternoon heritage walk. The guided-Walk is organised by the Persatuan Sahabat Muzium Melaka.

Martin introduced himself to a group of participants and among them, some come from United Kingdom and United States.

Martin briefed them about the existence of the Portuguese Settlement and the origin of the Portuguese people in Melaka as he walked to a statue of a saint.

From there, they continued onto a road that leads to the homes of Customs officers.

Taking a halt, Martin talked from Portuguese marriages, family ties, to fishing and weather, and from foods to festives like Intrudu including a summary of the Christmas activities.

The walk continued westward when Martin talked about how people of the past identified that they have reached the settlement.

He also describe a tree and its' fruits and the crab hill before he introduced the Kristang language spoken by an elderly who sat on a wheelchair.

After that, the walk continued to an intersection where the Temasek Hotel is located and ....
