Amy Nyonya Restaurant Melaka

Madam Amy Koh is born in the 1940s into a Peranakan family. An avid cook since young, she learned her cooking skills from her great grandparent, grandparents and her parents.

The art of her cooking emphasizes on the ingenious use of various local spices to enhance the aroma and taste of the food.

Amy has appeared in TV2's Simply Delicious cooking programme. She has been invited to several cooking demonstrations overseas in Japan and London.

In 2004, Amy was the Guest Chef to the Inter-Continental Mid Plaza Hotel in Indonesia under the sponsorship of the Embassy of Malaysia Ladies Association of Jakarta for the Melaka Baba Nyonya Culture & Cuisine Festival.

She was also the consultant to +Hotelequatorial Melaka  for Nyonya cuisine.

In 2007, she was involved in the Warisan Masakan held in Melaka by the +TourismMalaysia .

Most recent in 2008 and 2009, she was invited by Tourism Malaysia to United States of America, to promote Nyonya cuisine to the United Nations.

Nyonya cuisine is a unique fusion of Chinese cooking with Malay, Indonesian, Indian, Portuguese and English influences but a taste unto itself is not easy to replicate.

It is a very fascinating melting pot of many races all put together as one. Many dishes are spicy and food is often eaten with fingers (Malay influence) or forks and spoons (British influence).
