Employability skills

EPF or Employee Provident Fund is working with the Ministry of Education to introduce 'employability skills at 15 vocational colleges covering some 3,000 students. The action is a part of EPF's efforts to educate members and employers the importance of preparation for retirement as the workforce.

EPF is also known as KWSP or Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Pekerja.

The module is first taught in January 2013 and would be extended to include the other 63 vocational schools throughout the country. These schools would be upgraded to college status by 2013.

The 'Employable Skills' module focus on social safety aimed to widen awareness of students on their responsibilities and rights as workers or employers. The module is designed to equip the students before they become workers about the importance of early planning on retirement. Thus, the members get to understand  EPF role in protecting the interest of the retirees. To ensure knowledge is imparted, teachers have been trained.
