If we were to separate the Dinosaurs in general groups, they would be classified into 3 different taxonomy according to their dietary needs, Herbivorous, Omnivorous and Carnivorous Dinosaurs.

Herbivorous are plant-eaters and the omnivorous, they can obtain their nutrients from either plants or herbivores. The oral structure of some Herbivores includes blunt teeth that are good for stripping vegetation such as leaves and twigs. Other have flat teeth for grinding tough plant fibers.

The diet of mere vegetation indicates a low caloric intake therefore Herbivores usually have to eat a much larger volume of food in order to attain sufficient calories. By having larger digestive systems, they can digest large amounts of tough plant fibers. Some dinosaurs swallowed rocks to help grind up the fibers in their guts like the Gastroliths.
