7 years after he had set about the quest, the vision of the true way came to him while he was sitting in meditation under a sacred tree.

The moment of illumination set forth for him to became the Buddha, the enlightened one. He saw for the first time the cause of all suffering and the means by which it has to be overcome.

The god, Brahma appeared to him and laid it upon his mind that he was to be a Buddha to others. Grew rapidly, and the rich and the intellectual became his followers.

Buddhism has no theology proper and it ignores the existence of gods, no place for sacrifice, prayer, or worship.

The Four Noble Truths are as follows: Suffering is universal, Cause of suffering is longing, Deliverance from suffering through suppression of longing; and through that quiet state which is satisfied and has no thirst for what it has not.

The Four Noble Truths is to be obtained by pursuing the holy eight-fold path; right understanding, right aspiration, right speech, right conduct, right means of subsistence, right aim and effort, right memory, and right meditation.
