MASJID SULTAN SALAHUDDIN ABDUL AZIZ SHAH


This State Mosque of Selangor Darul Ehsan is the Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) set a precedent emulated by his followers when he built the first mosque in the world. Thus, as Sultan and custodian of the Islamic Faith of the State of the State of Selangor Darul Ehsan, His Highness Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah decreed that a State Mosque be built when he declared Shah Alam the new state capital of Selangor Darul Ehsan on 14th. February 1974.

Accomodating as many as 24,000 people, the Main Prayer Hall is one of the largest in the world. The four Minarets rising over 460 feet guard the Dome where decorative khat can be seen in the outer and inner parts of the Dome. The calligraphy is the work of the famous Egyptian calligrapher, Sheikh Abdel Moneim Mohamed Ali El Sharkawi.
