Worry unnecessarily

In this e-age, it is unlikely that anyone would ever worry about the sky falling down, but in ancient China, there was a story about such a man.

During the Spring and Autumn period, there was a man in the State of Qi who worried day in and day out that the sky might fall and the earth might crack. He could not sleep well nor enjoy his meals. His friends advised him, "Why should you worry about the sky falling ? The sky is a space."

The man asked, "If this is so, what about the sun, moon and the stars ? Won't they fall down ?"

His friend explained, "The earth is no more than  the accumulation of mud and stones which are found everywhere. The sun and the stars are bodies of gases and the moon is similar to earth except with different atmosphere."

With this explanation, the man of Qi had his worry removed. The saying "the undue worry of the man of Qi" is in common use to describe a person who worry unduly about things that would not happen.
