By 1960, it again doubled, reaching nearly 3,000,000,000. And between 1960 and the year Y2K, it was expected that the number would double once again.

Of late, we see a few natural disasters. This year, we begin to see the tsunami sweeping Japan.
Now, the Bangkok floods worsen.
