Jacqueline Kennedy, one of the youngest First Ladies

John F. Kennedy is the youngest man ever to be elected president. His wife is one of the youngest first ladies.

Most of the presidents and their wives have been in their fifties and so the Kennedys' youth makes them doubly appealing to many people.

Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy was born at Easthampton, Long Island, in 1929. She was educated in private schools and attended Vassar College, the Sorbonne in Paris and George Washington University.

Although the first lady is not deeply interested in politics, she campaigned for her husband before his election.

An attractive young woman, Mrs. Kennedy is widely admired for her sense of style.

Even before President Kennedy's inauguration, women in all parts of the United States were following his wife's full hairdo and pillbox hat.

The Kennedys were married in 1953.
