Singapore: Election 2011

People's Action Party, the ruling party which has governed Singapore since independence, retained firm control after the election last Saturday. PM Lee Hsien Loong held his first post-election press conference early Sunday morning. People's Action Party wins all except for Aljunied and Hougang. About 2.2 million Singaporeans go to polls.

Singapore's first general election was held in 1955, and in 1959, Lee Kuan Yew became the first prime minister. Since then, Singapore has improved very well and takes the fourth place as the leading financial centre in the world. Singapore has advanced and is continuing to advance further.
